Training & Readiness

Emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time. Our members train throughout the year so they are ready to respond safely and effectively whenever the call comes.

How we train

Hands-on drills

Regular drills let members practice with our equipment and apparatus and work together as a team.

State courses

The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control offers fire training courses that help members build and certify their skills.

Always learning

Members refresh core skills and add new ones as equipment and best practices change.

New members

New volunteers are not expected to know everything on day one. Training starts with the basics, and experienced members help new members learn step by step.

For members

Current members can find training materials, documents and schedules in the members-only Crew Resources area. Contact a department officer if you need access.
